Disneyland Travel Diaries

Disneyland Paris

GUESS WHO WENT TO DISNEYLAND? WE DID MOTHER F'ERS. Myself, Jack and our favourite emo couple Jasmine and Sean booked a last minute 3 day break to Paris for all of the fun. I last went to Disneyland Paris when I was 4, so this was all the emotions and nostalgia.

DAY ONE. We set off on early Saturday afternoon aka. Jasmine's Birthday, and after getting a little wine happy in the Duty Free Wetherspoons and MAC, we almost missed our flight! I mean, obviously you can tell where our priorities lie.

The flight was less than an hour from Gatwick and it was smooth sailing all the way to Charles De Gaulle airport - made better with the takeaway bagel I got for the plane.Yum, thank you wine happy self.

We decided to book our hotel just outside of the Disneyland resorts and stayed in a spa hotel called Relais Spa Chessy. This was situated just a 5 minute drive to Disneyland with a free shuttle service to and from our hotel. Winner winner chicken dinner. Not only was it very nearby, we were also very close to the local shopping mall and some handy shops (aka Sephora). Not sorry.

We dropped our bags off in our epic, lovely rooms (btw, we pretty much had an actual kitchen!) and headed out to Sephora because girls got needs. Suddenly, I found myself over 60 euros poorer at the till and kinda shat my pants at the fact I still needed to feed, water AND get a taxi back to the airport all in the next 2 days with just over 100 euros to spare. Oops.

After dinner and a quick supermarket essentials spree, we headed back to Jasmine's room for a birthday pop punk party in our matching outfits and shared a bottle of 3 euro Rosé (with lemonade mixed in to make it last longer) because that's how we roll now.

DAY TWO was Disney day!!! AAAH! We arrived just a little bit after the park had opened for the ultimate day of Magic, making a quick stop to the City Hall before exploring the park. As Jasmine dodged her foot up a few days before, we managed to get fast passes to every single ride!

Injure yourselves people, it's totally worth it.

We smiled down Main Street USA en route to the castle, and pretty much went in every single gift shop there (frantically searching for a Beauty and the Beast Chip teacup). PS. They don't sell them there! :( When we finally got to the castle it was obviously picture time! Gotta get in all those Pinterest photo ops.

Big Thunder Mountain Disneyland Paris

After this, we headed off to explore Frontierland! Frontierland is very Country and Western themed and home to the likes of Phantom Manor (always fun) and Big Thunder Mountain - which actually turned out to be our favourite ride of the day. I think it actually beats the one in Florida!

Skull Rock, Disneyland Paris

As we were close by, we headed straight for Adventureland. We went on the Indiana Jones ride first which I was slightly apprehensive about because big roller coasters give me headaches these days #old. Thankfully though, it was a lot of fun!

We were a bit sad because the only water ride in Disney was Pirates Of The Caribbean which was actually closed for refurb :( Not totally ideal in 31 degree heat but still, can't complain! We explored Pirates Beach and Skull Rock a little after this which was fun and had a little stroll around before heading to Fanstasyland.

One of the great things about this Disneyland is that you can actually walk through and go underneath, up and into Sleeping Beauty's castle. Underneath the castle, there is a giant dragon which you cannot miss - the whole set underneath reminds me of a scene in Once Upon A Time.

The upstairs of the case is laced with beautiful stained glass windows and there's a shop downstairs with all of the princess-y themed gifts and sparkly ears! Even a giant Disney castle made out of glass for 25,000 euros. Bargain.

Fanstasyland will never not be the most magical moment in my eyes! This is home to the more mellow rides and all of the childhood memories. It's just the most beautiful, dreamy place and it's own pretty village. PS. I am going to live there soon, just saying.

Disneyland Paris Carousel

Jasmine and I ditched the boys and went on the carousel first because it is actually the most beautiful thing ever. We got some Instagram snaps and Jasmine sang Pocahontas to me in the queue. WHY IS SHE SO CUTE?

Places to eat in Disneyland Paris

We then headed over to Peter Pan's Flight, The Trips Of Pinnochio, 'it's a small world' and various other smaller rides before catching a bite to eat for dinner! We ate at Pizzeria Bella Notte which was a standard counter service pizza place, but it was a cheaper option than the actual table service restaurants (which we were not willing to pay out of our arse for). Oh well, the pizza was a star shape. Worth it.

After we had a bite to eat and a rest, we headed over to Discoveryland for the some more fun. We got our fast past time for Space Mountain and decided to kill that time by going on the Buzz Lightyear ride (which now gives me my favourite picture of Jasmine in the entire world). I won't embarrass her.. yet.

So we finally got on Space Mountain (after it had been broken down for a good hour or so) and thought we were gonna die for a second. Obviously, everything turned out to be fine but that's a story for another day...

Glowtini Disneyland Paris

After our stressful ride ordeal, we found out we'd actually missed the parade (there is only 1 a day compared to WDW) and the fireworks weren't until 11pm. Instead, we decided to go on Big Thunder Mountain again because it is THE BEST ride ever ever, and then headed out to Disney Village to hunt for the Glowtini's (Aka. Glow in the dark cocktails.)

Disneyland Paris
So, obviously alcohol was the only solution to our 2 hour wait with some delicious nachos thrown in. Not gonna lie to you, the cocktails were nice but didn't taste as magical as they looked. I just wanted the glow in the dark ice cube as a souvenir (and obvs ended up coming home with the glass too..) YOLO.

When we finally headed back to watch the fireworks, the place was absolutely heaving! I was convinced that it would be too late for kids to be up, therefore being empty but alas.. it was not. We managed to finally get a space where we could see and enjoyed the parade.

Disneyland Paris

From this moment, Jasmine and I didn't take any photos or videos because it is just too magical and all of the feels to watch through a camera screen. We both had a little bit of a weep most of the way through and loved it SOO much. However, hearing 'Let It Go' in French was a strange experience to say the least... Hahaha!

I actually rated the fireworks just a teeny bit more than Florida's - no justified reason, it was just wonderful in every way! <3

As this is already the most mammoth post, I have also written up a 'part 2' with what we got up to at Walt Disney Studios the next day. So, I will post that in few more days!

Have you been to Disneyland? What's your favourite part? :)
