When it comes to the dreaded V word, I think the majority of the world will shudder or just shrug the whole idea off completely. Whether it's your thing or not, there are plenty of different ways to spend the evening. From a date night, to 'Galentines' drinks or even just a night in to yourself - everyone will be doing something different.
Valentines Day for my boyfriend Jack and I is kind of a tradition, as it celebrates another year we've been together! This year we will be congratulating ourselves on our 4 year anniversary. N'awwwwh. Each year, we go all-out on the classic Valentines date night meal, dress up and leave our phones out of reach so we can have a genuine conversation and devour a huge meal (or three!).
If it wasn't for our anniversary however, I think a simple cosy up indoors would do just fine!
♡ GOING ALL OUT? Check.
This year, I will be getting dolled up before we go out for our meal using some new essentials. I'll do a similar makeup look to my Drugstore Get Ready With Me, with a more intensified contour and eye look using my Ardell Demi Wispies* and a darker selection of eyeshadows. I may even paint my nails (that really is me making an effort!) using the Limited Edition Kiko Power Pro Nail Lacquer in 46 Ribes Red*.
For lips, I will be using my the LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Dreamy* which has IN-CREDIBLE stay power (it honestly lasts hours!) and gives the most amazing matte finish. The shade is a gorgeous pinky, nude and great if you want to give your lips a bit of colour without them looking too OTT.
I'll be blow-drying my hair using my new and amazing Tangle Angel Brush. I had to throw this in as I've been completely in love with it since I received it a few weeks ago! I received the Precious Pink Tangle Angel* which arrived at just the right time, seeing as my Wet Brush bristles had melted out of shape from the heat and it was becoming a nightmare. Not to mention, I'd been eyeing up the Tangle Angel brushes for ages!
The brush itself is on another level of greatness. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful winged design and its perfect size. It's not too big or small, yet it's still compact enough to store or pack in your suitcase. The bristles actually reminded me so much of the brushes you used to get with the Bratz Heads/ Barbie Dolls (haha, remember those?!). Nothing like a bit of nostalgia, eh?!
This isn't just any old detangling brush though. The bristles are gentle, waterproof AND anti-bacterial. How cool is that? I've never known a brush to be anti-bacterial before but what a genius idea! It glides through wet or dry hair with ease and makes detangling your hair a stress-free task! I've also found since using Tangle Angel that I've lost a lot less hair when brushing and I haven't dreaded reaching for my hairbrush at all.
Its heat resistant and anti-static properties make this brush the perfect blow-dry companion. It can withstand heat of up to 115°C and the bristles don't bend out of shape when you're drying. I've found my hair has been so much easier to dry using this and I don't get those flyaway hairs like I used to. I absolutely 100% recommend it!
⌂ STAYING IN AND FORGETTING THE WHOLE IDEA?
Don't worry, that's totally fine! If you're feeling a bit crappy then why not binge watch your favourite series, treat yourself to a glass of wine (or the bottle), a bubble bath and plenty of snacks (maybe not all at the same time though..!). If not, invite your friends or family over for a chilled night in and a giggle, or just let someone know how much you appreciate them!
♡ DATE NIGHT ON A BUDGET?
This is my ideal night! Let's be honest, not everyone can be arsed to cook a full blown meal, so why not grab yourself to M&S Dine for Two for £10, light a few candles and cosy up under some blankets and watch a film? You'll have the class and the comfort! If you're feeling rebellious, you could even order you and your loved your fave takeaway! ;)
I hope this post has given you some ideas/ makeup inspiration for the evening! If you have any more ideas, please feel free to share them!
