Is it just me or are Rimmel killing it with their new releases this year?! I think yes. When it comes to high street lipsticks, I always without fail go with Rimmel. Up until last year, they were the only drugstore brand I would buy. The quality of their lippies are amazing, they provide you with high coverage and they don't bleed - all that for an amazing price. My Kate Moss 107 is my holy grail berry lipstick, infact I think it was the first berry shade I ever tried!
So, when Rimmel kindly surprised me with yet another package recently, not only did my fan girl mode kick in x100, so did my squealing when I realised they hadn't just sent me a one or two lipsticks.. I GOT THE WHOLE COLLECTION! I nearly died and went to lipstick heaven. Thank you Rimmel! If you haven't already guessed, the pretty, bright red envelope contained the new Only 1 Matte Lipsticks* and oh my GOD, they are amazing! Let me tell you why.
Whenever I hear the word 'matte' in a lipstick, I am instantly skeptical about how it will be on my lips because 9 times out of 10, they are chapped or dry (especially in the cold!) When I saw that these lipsticks have a non-drying formula, I was so excited to try them out! I love a matte lipstick and if it doesn't dry out my lips, that's even better. I did wonder if this would decrease the stay power, but it actually lasts longer than any other matte lipstick I have used!
Personally, I find the consistency of these lipsticks so dreamy and they glide on without any fuss. They leave the perfect smooth, matte finish and are incredibly comfortable to wear. I don't feel like my lips scream for moisture when I use these, especially in comparison to some other matte lipsticks I've dabbled with in the past. The pigmentation and colour pay off is SO impressive, I found this lasted me hours before I needed to think about re-applying. Even some of the swatches left some staining on my arm after I'd rubbed them off!
Is there anything Rimmel can't do?!
Swatches L-R: 110 Leader Of The Pink, 120 Call The Shots, 200 Salute, 500 Take The Stage, 610 High Flyer, 700 Trendsetter, 750 Look Who's Talking, 800 Run The Show, 810 The Matte Factor.* |
I find all of the shades are varied for each season and there is something for everyone. You have the perfect nudes, pinks & reds which are essential for Spring/Summer, then you have the bolder reds, purples and browns for Autumn/Winter. My current favourites from the range have to be Salute, High Flyer, Trendsetter and my favourite autumnul shade I have been wearing the most is The Matte Factor.
Have you tried any of the Only 1 Matte range yet? I'd love to know your thoughts!
